They suggested that each entry be a page number. For example, we are taking notes on plot structure for our fist page. One child might take two pages to fit all his notes, while another might only take one. The one with two pages on plot structure would label ALL his pages on plot structure as 1, as would the child with the one page.

So, basically, you are numbering the notebook entries instead of the page entries. If I were to tell the kids "turn to your notes for plot on page 1," they all go to the page labeled 1, even if the notes run more than 1 page. The pages that are printed - do the students tape those into their notebooks? Do you have a teacher's edition already completed before the beginning of school to know exactly what you want in each? How do you grade them?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13557280913501534651noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3836542395655835643.post-87229121673636427522014-05-01T07:50:48.663-04:002014-05-01T07:50:48.663-04:00Can you share the airplane idea? :)Can you share the airplane idea? :)Anitrenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3836542395655835643.post-11921891468192521342014-02-28T23:55:29.138-05:002014-02-28T23:55:29.138-05:00I love this idea. What would you suggest as the best tools to learn about them other than your blog. I teach 7th and 8th grade language arts and am a bit stuck, like you said, finding a good example. I like using a 5-subject notebook and divide it into the following sections: Figurative Language, Grammar, Writing, Reading Tools and Strategies, and Vocabulary. It works great when divided into these sections. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3836542395655835643.post-75770269095043844272012-05-17T10:38:42.375-04:002012-05-17T10:38:42.375-04:00I would love to talk logistics. I took about 40 pictures the other day of my notebook, but just haven't had any time this week to post another blog.

Thanks for the compliments, I so do not think I am a writer at all. Nor do I have the technical skills to blog, but I am giving this a go. The only background that I could find that seemed somewhat "guyish" and middle schoolish was the paper airplane one.
